Coca-Cola Truck Wreck Kills Woman on 820 in Fort Worth
A 20 year-old woman was killed Thursday evening in a car accident after her car collided with a Coca-Cola distributing truck. The woman, driving a white Buick sedan, was heading eastbound in the 1500 block of NE Loop 820 when traffic congestion caused her to brake sharply. She lost control of her car, careening onto the shoulder and then back into traffic.
The 18-wheeler Coca-Cola truck broadsided the woman’s Buick as it crossed the roadway. The impact of the collision propelled the Buick into the inside center cement barrier and caused the 18-wheeler delivery truck to break through the barrier, landing on its side in the westbound lanes of traffic.
The woman driver of the Buick died at the scene. The driver of the 18 wheeler Coca-Cola truck was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital where authorities later reported that he was in stable condition.
Following the wreck, Loop 820 was closed in both directions between Interstate 35 and Blue Mound Road.
